FISHER'S POINT (KING GRAY)
Not to be mistaken for Fisherman's Point, the innermost break in Robertsport, this
point sits at the foot of the King Gray Village, just near the large SKD sports
stadium south of Monrovia near ELWA. The setting of this point us so beautiful.
Tall palm trees and African fishing boats line the entire waterfront. It's not Liberia's
best wave, but it can be really fun when it's too big for the beaches. Takes a quality
6.5-7 foot minimum long period swell to work. Best under glassy conditions,
otherwise does not hold up very long. Drop ins are fun, followed by time for one
turn, then hits a super flat section where you almost have to surf right to stay on the
wave, will then wall up in the inside section for a fast final 50+ meters. It's tempting
to paddle inside at the point, because of this it's easy to get caught inside the bigger
sets and they are pretty heavy. Best to keep paddling straight out and watch where
the bigger sets are breaking to avoid this.
